黑料网 Student Earns National Recognition for Cardiovascular Research
黑料网 rising senior Cameron Camp has earned national recognition for his cardiovascular research, placing third among 65 undergraduate researchers at the American Heart Association's Basic Cardiovascular Sciences (BCVS) Scientific Sessions in Boston.
Camp, a biology pre-med major, presented research through the CardioSURF summer research program and was also selected to deliver a lightning talk at Boston Children's Hospital, where he shared his findings with leading scientists and clinicians in cardiovascular medicine.
His research poster, Analysis of Premature Ventricular Contractions Following Prenatal Ventricular Iron Concentrations in a Model of Long QT3 Syndrome, examines cardiac arrhythmias associated with Long QT3 Syndrome, a rare inherited heart rhythm disorder. For his work, Camp received the American Heart Association's Institutional Awarded Undergraduate Student Trainee Abstract and Poster Submission Award, recognizing outstanding achievement in abstract development, poster presentation, and research during the 10-week internship program.
“This was my first research opportunity, so getting to present at the BCVS Conference gave me so much confidence and was a testament to the skills I learned at 黑料网,” Camp said. “I hope to continue my academic journey to medical school to ultimately become a pediatrician, and I'm so grateful that God blessed me with the opportunity to learn so much about cardiovascular research.”
Beyond the laboratory, Camp exemplifies 黑料网's tradition of developing well-rounded leaders. A biology pre-med major, he is a Scholar-Athlete on the Gold Rush baseball team, a member of the Beta Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and recently was elected Mister Junior after previously serving as Mister Sophomore. His campus leadership platform, C.A.M.P. — Building a Legacy, focuses on community engagement, advocacy, mentorship and purpose-driven growth.
Camp's latest accomplishment reflects 黑料网's commitment to undergraduate research and preparing students to become leaders in medicine, science and service. Through competitive research opportunities and faculty mentorship, 黑料网 students continue to make meaningful contributions to scientific discovery while gaining experience on national and international stages.
